VR Fitness Digest: November 2022

Thanksgiving was last week and there are plenty of reasons to be grateful this year—including all the wonderful VR experiences that can help you work up a sweat. But we’re not resting on our laurels, and neither are the amazing developers who make these VR fitness apps: We’re here to share some great new content you can get your heart pumping to this month. And don’t forget—Meta Quest makes fitness fun and simple, and you dive in virtually anytime and anyplace that works for you.

Supernatural user Linda M.

“I fell in love with it the moment I put the headset on.” That’s how VR fitness fan and grandmother of seven Linda M. remembers it. Deciding to take control of her own health, she turned to Meta Quest and Supernatural in addition to changing her lifestyle. And thanks to regularly sweating it up in VR, she’s got a whole new sense of confidence and personal strength.

Practice Gratitude with Maloka and The Big Quiet

Most of the time, VR fitness is about getting your body moving. But sometimes it’s about slowing everything down.

That’s why, last month, Maloka, one of the leading VR relaxation apps, partnered with The Big Quiet to bring mass meditation events to five cities around the US.

As a sponsor of The Big Quiet’s national tour, Maloka helped thousands of people in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Austin get in touch with their inner meditator. Packed with relaxing practices like sound baths, breathwork, guided meditation, and live music, the five events helped those in attendance prepare themselves for a season of gratitude.

In conjunction with the national tour, Maloka now features a set of new experiences led by Lexie Lowell, Jackie Cantwell, and Jesse Israel of The Big Quiet, including “Gratitude Blast” and “Navigating the Ups and Downs of Social Life.” Give them a shot while also checking out the many fun and rewarding ways you can practice mindfulness with Maloka.

FitXR Music Collection

Get ready to dance your way to better fitness.

Already one of the best choreographed workout apps around, FitXR is introducing four new collections of music, each of which is accompanied by classes with themed music in its Box, HIIT, and Dance studios.

They include:

  • The ’80s & ’90s Favorites Collection, now available, is loaded with huge hits from big names like Wham!, Billy Idol, Backstreet Boys, A-ha, Chaka Khan, Survivor, Chic, The Weather Girls, and Sister Sledge. This collection includes 10 new classes—four Box, three HIIT, and three Dance.
  • Load up the Pop Hits Volume 1 Collection, and you’ll be able to groove to chart-toppers from Dua Lipa, Pink, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion, Troy Sivan, and Zara Larsson. This collection goes live on December 12.
  • Get yourself in the spirit of the season with the Holiday Jams Collection, which features seven exciting new classes—two Box, two HIIT, and three Dance. It’ll start spreading holiday cheer on December 12.

And you can listen to all of these new FitXR music collections today outside the app via Spotify playlists.

Travel to Latin America with Guided Moments in Supernatural

If you’re a fan of Supernatural, you’re probably always ready to get in a workout under the enthusiastic tutelage of Coaches Leanne, Doc, Raneir, Mark, or Dwana. But what if you want to see the gorgeous natural beauty you’re used to without having to work up a sweat?

Well, now Supernatural has you covered. With new Guided Moments, you can visit the ruins of Machu Picchu, the pyramids of Chichen Itza, or the beauty of Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses, with a guide leading you every step of the way.

With each Guided Moment, you’ll visit a world-famous location in beautiful 3D and learn from your guide about each place’s history. So strap on your headset, grab your passport, and get ready to learn about the mastery of the Incas and the ingenuity of the Mayans right from the comfort of your own home.

Brand New HOLOworld: Nihon

You may think that HOLOFIT is just great for doing cardio workouts, and you’d be right—except for the “just” part. Now, you can also adventure into the hit VR fitness app to solve a mystery.

In Nihon, HOLOFIT’s new virtual world, you’ll visit a Far East land and discover ancient rune stones that tell a story of an old magic that humans need today. Nihon’s legend declares that whoever can collect the rune stones can open the hidden sanctuary of an Ancestor Spirit and, in doing so, bring peace to the world. Do you have what it takes?

Nihon is a popular HOLOworld, and you’re sure to have fun and get a great workout, but you won’t even realize that’s what you’ve been doing—solving the mystery requires biking, running, skiing, rowing, squatting, and boxing—until you take off your headset.

And when you’re done, don’t forget to cool down, either in Nihon or one of the other 15 HOLOworlds based on real cities like Paris, real places like a snowy mountain, or even a mystical Cyberpunk World.

Meta Quest Move

Move Tips: Voice Commands

There are few things more annoying while you’re in the middle of a workout than having to push a bunch of buttons on your Touch controllers to see your real-time Move stats. But when you use Voice Commands, getting those numbers is as easy as telling your Meta Quest to bring them up.

Here’s how it works: After setting up the Voice Commands shortcut in Settings, just press the button twice and try out a voice command. You could try “Show Move Overlay” or “Display Move Overlay,” and you’ll enable the overlay of your Move stats.

Then, if you want them to go away, you can simply say “Hide Move Overlay” or “Disable Move Overlay.”

You can even choose where the overlay goes by adjusting it in Move Settings in the Meta Quest Move app in your Library.
